X U Shots is founded by Chris Henderson who started his photo career by taking photos of Washington D.C. punk band Scream starting in 1987. Networking and word of mouth soon allowed Chris to photograph even more punk bands. During a thirteen-year period from 1987 to 2000 Chris has photographed over 80 punk bands generating thousands of images, mostly unpublished. Chris has also published his own zine, “D.C. Spotlight” that published four issues from 1987 to 1990; his photography has appeared on many artist’s album releases to include: Scream, The Suspects, Indian Summer, Lickity Split, The Goons and many more. Published photographic works in other zines around the world such as the front cover to an issue of Maximum Rock n’ Roll.

In 2000 Chris was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and dropped out of the D.C. music scene to combat a disease that took seven years to recover from. In that time Chris left the D.C. area and relocated to the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia. Since that time Chris got married and started a family. Recently while cleaning out his basement Chris has rediscovered his D.C. punk photo collection that was lost in storage for over twenty years.
